Brand Story

1958

Ahmet Ortakcı started his career as an apprentice during the construction and furniture application process of the 3rd Turkish Grand National Assembly building between 1958 and 1961, and by developing the furniture production and application techniques he learned from German masters, he began to shape his own adventure. Starting from this year, Ahmet Ortakcı began manufacturing wood paint with materials he supplied from a powder paint manufacturer he collaborated with in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and took this adventure to a whole new level with the establishment of the Özen Kardeşler Furniture company in 1965. Over the years, the principle of innovation and renewal has brought us to this day.

1965

The branding journey that we can consider as the first steps of Nill’s Furniture started in Ankara in 1965. Our founder Ahmet Ortakçı, who stepped from apprenticeship to mastery after the experiences he gained in the production of TBMM furniture and the skills he gained in the production of furniture paint and his name being heard frequently in the market in these areas, started a production in the axis of paint, varnish and home furniture under the name of Özen Kardeşler this year. Afterwards, Özen Kardeşler formed the basis of Nill’s Furniture, which turned into a giant operation whose future we planned from yesterday.

1965 – 1980

Discovering his passion, Ahmet Ortakcı was rapidly increasing his commercial collaborations in the axis of Istanbul, İnegöl and Ankara, and was giving direction to discoveries that were beyond their scope. İnegöl district of Bursa had an important place in these activities. Collaborations with furniture manufacturers in İnegöl were increasingly on Ahmet Ortakçı’s agenda as the years passed, because the logistic advantages in İnegöl, the proximity of raw materials and the increasingly qualified workforce showed that furniture manufacturing in this city would increase.

1980

In 1980, Mr. Ahmet shifted his investments to İnegöl and founded a new company called Nil Mobilya, where he started manufacturing classical style home furniture.

1982

In 1980, Mr. Ahmet shifted her investments to İnegöl and in order to gain awareness in terms of correctly displaying and presenting to customers the products produced as a result of the production investments made in İnegöl with the Nill's Furniture brand, in 1982, a step was taken into contemporary retailing outside of traditional marketing and the first store was opened.

1986

We see that Ahmet Ortakcı started to transform the organization into a family company during these years. Carrying out the business together with his son Aziz Ortakcı ensures that the internal activities are more controllable and traceable. Aziz Ortakcı started to manage the organization in a more organized manner until 1996, which completely gained Ahmet Ortakcı's trust in him for the future, and this situation became one of the biggest steps that would completely change the future of the brand.

1996

When the calendar showed the year 1996, Aziz Ortakcı took over the entire business and the company was successfully transferred to the 2nd generation. During this 10-year period, Ahmet Ortakcı transferred all his knowledge and experience to Aziz Ortakcı and Aziz Bey showed his pleasure and curiosity in furniture production with the innovations he added to the sector. Anticipating that world trends would take a more innovative and integrated orientation on their journey to the 2000s, a comprehensive furniture production was started. Our production line turned into a much faster, professional and corporate structure compared to the previous years.

2001

Aziz Ortakcı took his first steps in terms of export by participating in domestic fairs that provided the opportunity to make international sales. He gained a great advantage in exhibiting his designs at fairs and establishing connections with potential customers. He rapidly expanded his export activities and established connections with retail furniture companies in different countries and managed to exist in these markets. The company, which attaches great importance to customer satisfaction, gained the trust of its customers with its pre-sale and after-sale services and came to the point of representing Turkey in the best way in the international furniture industry.

2006

Aziz Ortakçı’s innovative ideas, energy, being a young entrepreneur and taking over the flag as the second generation were signs that this process had entered a new era and that more exciting adventures would begin. Aziz Ortakçı established his company, Nill’s Furniture Design, and positioned it in the sector by turning it into an innovative and pioneering furniture company. He managed to attract the attention of consumers in a short time with new modern wooden collections, inspiring advertising campaigns and impressive store concepts. The company decided to launch a modern production facility in line with its growth and development goals. This new production facility was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment on an area of ​​twelve thousand square meters. Furniture produced using high-quality materials was offered to the market more quickly and precisely in this modern production facility. The creations prepared by famous designers helped develop even more creative and innovative products with the opportunities provided by the new factory. Thus, the first collection under the Nill’s brand was created. Original and stylish designs that exceeded customers’ expectations were showcased for the first time at the Istanbul Furniture Fair with the new brand investment and were launched.

2009

Continuing his initiatives without interruption, Aziz Ortakcı completed his new sofa production facility investment with the aim of producing all of his home furniture in-house by increasing the factory area to fifteen thousand square meters. The establishment of this factory and modern production processes ensured that workmanship and technology progressed in perfect harmony. As a result of the integrated operation of panel furniture, paint line and sofa production facility, the collections have now started to become a concept in the full sense.

2011

The continuity of family businesses is usually achieved by the inclusion of new generations in the management of the company. This contributes to the development and innovative perspective of the company, while also helping to preserve family values ​​and heritage. Including the third generation in the company can be an important step in achieving long-term strategy and investment goals. In 2011, Fatih Ortakcı began to work in certain departments of the company while continuing his education, and the second generation began to experience working with the third generation for the first time this year.

2014

Nill’s has established a new additional seat factory facility due to the increase in current demands in order to increase seat production capacity. The reflection of this new factory to the total volume has increased the factory to 20,000 square meters of closed area on a square meter basis. The investments made by the company with factory construction and state-of-the-art machinery have ensured that the products are both much more suitable for international standards and much more suitable for meeting current demands.

2016

With the MRP / ERP system investment, the strategic foundations of the company were laid in terms of production, retailing and institutionalization. The completion and development of the system operation was ensured between 2013 and 2016. The İnegöl Mobiliyum store, which opened in 2015, was determined as the pilot area for investments to be made in retailing. As of 2016, the retailing structure began throughout Türkiye.

2018 – 2023

While the branding and institutionalization journey brought together many disciplines, other members of the third generation, Yusuf Ortakcı (2018) and Interior Architect Ahmet Ortakcı (2023), joined the company. In addition, one of the biggest steps of the retail investments, the first overseas direct investment store was opened in the Albania / Tirana region. This store was determined as the pilot store of the company's ongoing overseas store investments. For this reason, it has been instrumental in the start of store investments in Romania's Constanta and Craiova cities, which will be opened in 2024 in line with the decision taken as of 2023. As of today, the company has exclusive sales points in 17 areas, including the planned stores. It has developed export regions in more than 30 different countries where it actively sells. It has signed more than 10 5-star hotel projects. Currently in a position that attaches great importance to the branding process. It is determinedly progressing towards becoming one of the most important furniture brands in Turkey and the world by developing its vision in the future.

2024

With the third generation of Nill’s Furniture taking over the business, the strategy of opening up to international markets represents an important step in the company’s growth and development journey. This strategy shows the brand’s goal of becoming a global player. The store opened in Albania was the beginning of this process. Nill’s entered the European market and took serious steps in foreign trade. Then, two new stores opened in Romania further consolidated Nill’s Furniture’s presence in Europe and contributed to its international growth. Such expansion allows the company to offer its products to a wider customer base, while also providing the opportunity to increase brand awareness and market share.
